Colorado Rockies

Denver's popular major league baseball team; The Colorado Rockies, were born in 1991 as part of the NL Expansion Committee's efforts. The club began play in the spring of 1992 by defeating the Boise Hawks in Bend, Oregon. The team's home, Coors Field, located in Downtown Denver and conveniently close to the Burnsley All Suites Hotel, can hold over 50,000 fans and sold out 203 times consecutively after its June 1995 inauguration. Over the course of the team's 15 years, star players such as Todd Helton and Matt Holliday have experienced many highs and lows. Near league championships combined with heartbreaking defeats have won the hearts and loyalty of the Denver fans. Most recently, the Colorado Rockies tasted sweet success in a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks for their first NLCS title in the history of the team. This sweep brought the 2007 World Series to Colorado in a competition against the heavy hitting ALCS champs, the Boston Red Sox.
